Grandmother in Miami searches for lost love from her youth

A Cuban grandmother asks for help to find the man who was her friend in her youth and whom she considers the love of her life. Sara Rodrigueza Miami resident, is the elderly lady’s granddaughter and has turned to social media to locate the gentleman.

“This man was my grandmother’s childhood sweetheart. He must be about 86 years old now, and she hasn’t heard from him in over 65 years. We would like to find at least some of his relatives to find out what happened to his life,” Sara said on her Facebook Page.

The man is called Humberto Cowley and he originally comes from Guanabacoa, HavanaSara shared a photo of him with her grandmother, in which both appear to be under 20 years old.

“PS: We promise there will be no divorce if he gets married…” she added jokingly.

Social media has helped many people reconnect with long-lost family members. In March, a Cuban father living in Miami asked for help in finding his two daughters, whom he had not seen since 1980.

The name of the older man is Miguel Ramosand his daughters are Laura Ramos Ibarraborn in 1974, and Eva Maria Ramos Ibarraborn a year later, lived at Calle 106 No. 5702 between 57 and 59, Marianao, Havana.

There was a happy ending for a woman from the Czech Republic who managed to track down her Cuban father, who apparently lived in the province of Holguín and with whom she had had no contact for three decades. The request, which was posted in the Facebook group “Holguín and more”, caught the attention of several people who helped bring father and daughter together.

Another case concerns a Cuban woman who is searching for her mother, who gave her up for adoption at the age of seven months before leaving the island during the Mariel’s Exodus in 1980. The family is looking for Lidia Maria Chirino Hernandezoriginally from Villa Clara and resident in Matanzas before she left the country. Her daughter Leticia Chirino Hernández was seven months old at the time.

In August last year Ana Hernandez sought help to find her father in Cuba, of whom she only knew the name – Armando Ruiz Regueira – because her mother, Caridad Aguiar Renovales, emigrated to the United States in 1966 while pregnant with her.
