The Chamber is your voice for business – Shaw Local

The Grundy County Chamber of Commerce offers a variety of benefits to its members – marketing opportunities, networking events, continuing education opportunities and more. I want to remind our members that we are also a voice for business.

Sometimes it’s a broad voice, like when it comes to advocating legislation for the entire business community. But we’re also a voice for individual members.

We recently spoke to the Minooka Village Board of Whole on behalf of a local business looking to offer outdoor dining in a unique location. We were able to provide not only the business, but also surrounding businesses with data demonstrating the benefits of this option and share ideas on how to make this unique situation happen. The council members, staff and local businesses were able to work together to create an ordinance that would allow for this great addition to downtown Minooka.

Also, just last week I met with a local Morris business that was looking to purchase playground equipment for their young customers. They asked where to start and we met to brainstorm fundraising ideas and resources for them.

These are just a few direct examples of how members are leveraging their Chamber benefits for a more personalized request. Our team prides itself on advocating for our members and thinking outside the box.

When we meet with prospective Chamber members or new members to discuss their benefits, we emphasize how we are here to help you with your business. What that looks like is different for every member. What we expect from all of our members is that they communicate with us so we can help. Tell us what’s giving you sleepless nights about your business and we’ll work together to find a solution. If we don’t have the answer, we have the resources to find it.

So next time you don’t know where to start or where to continue, think of your chamber. That’s what we’re here for.
