Cyndi Lauper reacts to “technical difficulties” during Glastonbury performance

Cyndi Lauper dismissed “technical difficulties” during her Glastonbury performance as being of no importance compared to the festival atmosphere.

The American singer, who is embarking on a farewell UK tour next year, played the Pyramid Stage on Saturday and struggled with microphone issues during her first performance.

When she faltered at one point, Lauper told the audience it was “a little crazy” and that “we have a hole here,” while also seeming frustrated with the sound and staging.

When asked by BBC Breakfast if she enjoyed it, Lauper said: “Yes, I did. I mean, I had a few technical issues and wardrobe difficulties, but I enjoyed it.”

“Sometimes you stand up there and it sounds like ‘Whoa.’

“But it doesn’t matter because the spirit… is there and that was great.”

Lauper added that her silver pants, which were part of an outfit that included a silver bodice and jacket with a blue tulle train, were “sliding down.”

This caused difficulties as she tried to walk around the stage and encourage the crowd.

“What are you going to do? (There was) a problem with the wardrobe, but it was OK,” she added.

Her popular song “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” had better sound quality and called for action to protect women’s “reproductive rights.”

She told Glastonbury Festival attendees: “It’s time for world leaders to understand that women make up half the world’s population and that we deserve to be treated equally, no matter where we come from or what we look like.”

Lauper also sang her biggest hits “Time After Time,” “Money Changes Everything,” “True Colors,” and “I Drove All Night.”
