All the surprise songs Taylor Swift has played so far on the “Eras Tour”

At every concert of the “Eras Tour” there comes a moment that the audience is always waiting for: the time of the surprise song.

This is when Taylor Swift sits down with just a guitar and a piano to play acoustic versions of two songs – sometimes mashups, sometimes not – that change between each show. And fans don’t know which songs she’s chosen that night until the surprise song set begins.

For the first surprise song of the evening, Swift played a mashup of Rihanna’s “This Is What You Came For” and her 2020 track “Gold Rush.”

While Swift was known for singing covers on previous tours, the singer co-wrote “This Is What You Came For” with her then-boyfriend, DJ Calvin Harris. The song was released in 2016 and featured Harris and Rihanna performing.

In a 2020 interview published by Rolling Stone, Swift confirmed her pseudonym in conversation with Paul McCartney, who has written under the names Bernard Webb and Fireman, among others.

“I wrote under the name Nils Sjöberg because those are two of the most popular names for Swedish men,” Swift said. “I wrote this song called ‘This Is What You Came For,’ which Rihanna ended up singing. And for a while, nobody knew about it.”

Swift kicked off the European leg of her Eras Tour in Paris on May 9, shortly after the release of her eleventh album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 29. While there were some significant changes to the setlist – including the addition of a new era – Swift stuck to her tradition of playing surprise songs.

Last year, Swift said she didn’t want to repeat any surprise songs during the “Eras Tour” and left it up to her fans to follow the performances each night like detectives and watch their favorite songs being chosen in advance of their own concert date.

But after Swift announced that she would “reset” the eligibility requirements of all songs for 2024 and introduce some twists, it’s impossible to predict what she’ll do next.

Intrepid Swifties who track every song Swift performs have noticed that while there are some songs that have been played multiple times, there are also some songs that the singer hasn’t played at all. These include:
