Taylor Swift reveals her Folklore album is set in Ireland; announcement during tour stop “Dublin Eras”

Taylor Swift made a huge revelation while performing in Dublin as part of her three-date Eras Tour shows. She told the crowd that her 8th album Folklore belongs to Ireland. Swift’s three Dublin performances will be her first since she made her Irish stadium debut in 2018 with a two-date show at Croke Park during the Reputation Stadium Tour.

“Folklore album belongs to Ireland,” says Taylor Swift

At the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Taylor Swift enchanted her fans by saying that the cottage from her eighth studio album “Folklore” “belongs in Ireland”.

Swift has taken the charming Folklore Cottage across five continents and fifteen countries. A stunning stage piece, the moss-covered, whimsical home was described by the music icon as truly belonging in Ireland.

“But let’s be honest,” Swift told the audience on Saturday night. “The folk hut and folklore in general belong in Ireland. That’s just the way it is.”

As dusk enveloped the Aviva Stadium and the sun set, she acknowledged that folklore conceptually belongs to the Irish.

The 17-track album was written two days after the start of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, with Swift dreaming of the Irish countryside and its picturesque landscapes as inspiration.

She added that she imagined the world of the album would look like Ireland. Swift continued by saying that the narrative part of the album is very Irish.

The Grammy winner said she only created Folklore two days after the pandemic began. She also said she wasn’t in Ireland, so an album had to be created where the imaginary world came to visit every day while writing, and all of those imaginings looked like Ireland.

“So we’re back where we belong!” Swift exclaimed before singing Betty, another character from her historic album. “Folklore belongs to you,” she concluded.

Taylor Swift presented new surprise songs in Dublin

Swift rarely plays the same song twice since the Eras Tour began, so her surprising song selections – which can range from two to four songs mid-show – have become a major talking point on the tour as well. She wowed the Dublin crowd with an acoustic performance that included music from four songs.

On Friday night, she played “State of Grace,” the opening track from “Red,” on guitar, combining it with “You’re On Your Own Kid,” the song with the iconic lyric “so make the friendship bracelets.”

For her second surprise song, Swift performed a medley of Sweet Nothing by Midnights and Hoax by Folklore, the latter of which was her first performance of the song on the 2020 Eras Tour.

Swift received some love from Ireland’s most famous rock stars ahead of her three-day show. She posted a picture of the flowers and a heartfelt message from legendary rock group U2 to her Instagram stories on Friday.

After her stops in Dublin, the Grammy winner will next travel to Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich for her performances in July. Swift confirmed that the extensive Eras Tour will finally end in Vancouver in December.
