Michigan receives commitment from Brady Hart for 2026 recruiting class

Michigan received its first commitment for the class of 2026 on Tuesday with the commitment of four-star quarterback Brady Hart, highlighting the Wolverines’ future prospects at the position following the signing of national champion and NFL first-round draft pick JJ McCarthy.

Hart, the 6-foot-5 passer from Cocoa High School in Florida, is ranked No. 120 in the 2026 ESPN 300 and the No. 8 pocket passer in his class. He chose Sherrone Moore’s program over finalists Ohio State, LSU, Miami, Florida and Clemson.

Hart’s commitment follows an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor last weekend. As a freshman starter last fall, Hart led Cocoa High School to a 14-1 record and the Florida 2A state championship with 41 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Among the top 10 pocket passers in the class of 2026, Hart is now the fifth to announce his verbal commitment, joining Jared Curtis, who committed to Georgia (No. 1 pocket passer in 2026), Dia Bell, who committed to Texas (No. 2), Will Griffin, who committed to Florida (No. 7), and Noah Grubbs, who committed to Notre Dame (No. 9).

Moore and the Wolverines now have a clear path forward at the quarterback position. Michigan signed four-star dual-threat passer Jadyn Davis in the 2024 cycle and has signed quarterback Carter Smith (No. 14 pocket passer in 2025) for the incoming class.
