Morgan Freeman has sharply criticized a scam that uses an AI-generated version of his voice.

On his social media account, the Seven The actor, known for his work as a voice actor, expressed his gratitude to fans who alerted him to AI-generated imitations of his voice.

“Thank you to my incredible fans for their vigilance and support in calling out the unauthorized use of an AI voice impersonating me,” Freeman posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.

He added: “Their dedication helps ensure that authenticity and integrity remain our top priority. I am grateful.”

Freeman captioned his post with the hashtags “fraud” and “identity protection.”

This news reportedly came in response to a media source’s statement that a TikTok user claiming to be Freeman’s niece recently uploaded videos to the social media site that appeared to be narrated by an AI-generated version of the actor’s voice.

As the voice of CBS News, the Oscar winner has worked as a narrator for the Netflix series “Life on Our Planet” and the film “March of the Penguins,” among others.

Previously, Scarlett Johansson threatened to take legal action against OpenAI last month for allegedly stealing and mimicking her voice after she refused to grant a license to use the voice.

Johansson said in a statement at the time that the startup founded by Sam Altman had imitated her voice after she turned down OpenAI’s request to be the voice of “Sky” for their AI system.
