That’s why fans are convinced that Perrie Edwards’ new song is inspired by Jesy Nelson

Perrie Edwards has sparked much speculation about who might have inspired her new song about friendship failure.

The previous Small mix The singer recently appeared on Zach Sang’s YouTube show to talk about her upcoming debut solo album, and one song in particular caught fans’ attention.

During the interview, the “Forget About Us” singer hinted at a song about “a friendship that I no longer have” and admitted that she “can’t even listen to that song without crying.”

“It’s crazy, isn’t it? Because that’s love,” she said. “You have so much love for that person, it could be a family member, a best friend, anything… when you really, really love that person and then they’re not in your life anymore, it’s really difficult.”

Perrie went on to say that the song was about “how no matter what happened, we just didn’t agree.”

“I saw red, you saw blue. I do this, you do that,” she continued. “There was no communication. It’s a really sad song though. When I hear it. Because I hope that one day we can get back in touch and it can be good. But right now it’s just not like that. It hasn’t been good.”

When asked if she wanted the person in question to hear the song she wrote, Perrie replied: “Yeah, why not? Maybe hear some bitter truths about themselves. Maybe it will help the person to evolve.”

She also said that she could not tell the person directly how she felt because they “don’t talk anymore, so…”.

“They’re just – poof! Gone. Just like that!” Perrie added.

“That friendship was already at its peak, but it was a huge moment in my life and they were a big part of my life, so it’s kind of sad how it all ended. I’ve written about pretty much everything, to be honest.”

After the clip of Perrie’s interview was shared online, many fans began to speculate that the person in question was jessy nelsonwho left Little Mix in 2020 after nine years in the chart-topping band.

While Jesy and the other three members of Little Mix all insisted at the time that their exit was amicable, this no longer seemed to be the case over time.

After Jesy’s debut solo single Boyz caused controversy because Accusations of blackfishing against her, reports claimed that her former bandmates had unfollowed Jesy on social media. Unconfirmed leaked DMs allegedly sent by Leigh-Anne Pinnock A TikTok user later suggested that Jesy had actually blocked the trio.

These alleged messages were never verified, nor did Leigh-Anne comment on them directly, but they landed make up a large part of the conversation during an ill-fated Instagram livestream that Jesy took part in with her former collaborator Nicki Minajin which the rapper called Leigh-Anne a “f***ing clown” and accused her of being “jealous” of Jesy.

In a subsequent interview with The Sunday TelegraphLittle Mix admitted they “don’t really want to deal with the aftermath,” with Jade Thirlwall noting, “We’ve dealt with it as best we can and helped each other through it.”

Jesy also confirmed that she and the trio “don’t speak to each other anymore.”

“It’s sad but honestly there’s no bad blood from my side,” she told Graham Norton after the live stream debacle. “I still love them more than anything and I sincerely wish them all the best.”

“I’ve really enjoyed spending time with them and we have the most incredible memories together… it’s just one of those things that takes time, so who knows.”

Whoever Perrie’s new song is about, she said she is “open” to a future reconciliation.

“I don’t know if they would be after hearing the song because I was just being very honest about the situation,” she admitted. “So who knows?”
