Taylor Swift tweets about Simone Biles’ floor routine at the US Olympic gymnastics trials: “She’s ready for it”

Like much of America, Taylor Swift followed the US Olympic gymnastics team’s tryouts with bated breath and was excited to see what the red, white and blue team had to offer on the parallel bars, balance beam, floor and vault.

During Simone Biles’ floor routine, she was greeted with a pleasant surprise. Biles, ever the showwoman, dazzled the Target Center faithful with flips, spins, and a triple-double pass to top it all off. Remarkably, she did it all while being backed by a mashup of Swift’s “Ready for It?” and Travis Scott and Beyonce’s “Delresto (Echoes).”

She took the gymnastics world by storm and received thunderous applause from the spectators in the arenas. Biles earned a fitting reward for her performance: she received 14.850 points, by far the best score of the evening.

As if that wasn’t enough, she earned praise from an unexpected source: Swift herself, who responded to a clip of Biles’s performance with a sweet message on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

She wasn’t the only one impressed by Biles’ performance. Former Olympic champion Dominique Moceanu was also surprised by Biles’ performance, a sentiment she expressed on X.

This isn’t the first time Swift and Biles’ paths have crossed. The two have a familial relationship, enhanced by the spotlight they’ve both lived under. It was Swift who delivered a monologue for Biles during the 2021 Olympics amid her mental health struggles.

“This past week, her voice was as meaningful as her talent. Her honesty as beautiful as the perfection that has long been her trademark,” Swift said. “But don’t you see? She still is. She is fully human, and that’s why it’s so easy to call her a hero. Simone Biles, back on the balance beam in Tokyo.”

The gesture that brought tears to both Swift and Biles

The duo also performed at the Chiefs’ game against the Packers last December at Lambeau Field, each supporting their respective admirers – Swift was there for Kansas City star Travis Kelce, while Biles was there for then-Green Bay safety Jonathan Owens. Despite their shared fame, the two did not interact during the game.

“I’m not sure they were really happy that the Packers beat them,” Biles joked about Swift and her team in a Vanity Fair article published in January.

Biles debuted her floor routine before the Prefontaine Classic in May, and given the success—and excitement—it generated, we can expect to see it countless times before the Olympic season is over.
