FOXBOROUGH, Massachusetts. (29 June 2024) – The New England Revolution (6-11-1; 19 points) fell to the Columbus Crew (9-4-5; 33 points) 5-1 on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. Midfielder Emmanuel Boateng scored the lone goal for New England in his 200th game.th MLS appearance and 100th career start before the visitors scored five unanswered goals, ending the Revolution’s winning streak after four games.

New England’s high pressure led to several scoring opportunities early in the game and resulted in the first goal in the ninth minute when Boateng intercepted a pass between Columbus’ center backs and lobbed it over Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte for his second goal of the season. However, Columbus quickly recovered and equalized in the 19th minute.th Minute by Cucho Hernandez. The Revolution had several chances to score a second goal, with Giacomo Vrioni taking a precise shot in the 18th minute.th and 39th minutes. Vrioni finished the evening with six shots, a new record for the Albanian in a game.

The guests took the lead through a goal by Max Arfsten in the 43rd minute.rd minute and doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time with a goal from Diego Rossi. After the break, the Revolution threatened to score again immediately when Vrioni’s attempted shot flew just over the bar. The game remained hard-fought until Columbus scored from a corner in the 73rd minute.rd Minute when Rudy Camacho headed in Rossi’s cross. Rossi and Crew striker Cucho Hernández each scored a goal and provided two assists in today’s performance.

Revolution defender Brandon Bye played his second consecutive game since his knee injury last August, playing 26 minutes. Matt Polster wore the captain’s armband for New England as Carles Gil missed the game due to injury. Polster was joined in midfield by Boateng and Ian Harkes, while in defense, center back Dave Romney completed his 200-meter run.th Start of the MLS career.

New England returns to action on Wednesday, July 3, with a midweek match against Atlanta United FC. The 7:45 p.m. ET kickoff at Gillette Stadium will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1 and can be watched for free on the Apple TV app in English and Spanish.
