KATHMANDU: Speaker of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal has stressed that Parliament should be developed into a place where the voice of the people is heard and where laws necessary to build a prosperous Nepal can be made.

In a message today on the occasion of Parliament Day, Dahal mentioned that the highest institution of people’s representation is a representative of different ideas, philosophies and political parties.

“On Parliament Day, we should all express our shared commitment to strengthening the dignity of Parliament and continuing to give people a real sense of democracy and change,” he said.

In his message, Chairman Dahal expressed his belief that this day, which commemorates the beginning of Parliamentary sessions in Nepal, will inspire all people’s representatives, political parties, civil society and media professionals to act with more honesty, commitment and responsibility towards the supremacy of Parliament, the rule of law and democracy.

Parliament Day is celebrated every year today and commemorates the maiden session of Nepal’s first elected parliament on 16 Asar 2016 BS.
