Chris Jericho shocks everyone at a non-AEW show – TJR Wrestling

Chris Jericho made an unannounced appearance at a show that was not All Elite Wrestling.

As the current FTW Champion in All Elite Wrestling, Chris Jericho calls himself “The Learning Tree” and leads a group that also includes Big Bill and Bryan Keith. Jericho calls himself the “For The World” Champion, although that is not the name Taz had in mind when he created the championship nearly 30 years ago.

As AEW fans know, the company has relationships with other promotions like NJPW, which is helping AEW run the Forbidden Door PPV this Sunday, June 30. AEW also works with the CMLL promotion in Mexico.

On June 28th there was a CMLL Super Viernes show in Mexico City where Jericho made a surprise appearance.

Mistico teamed with Esfinge and Volador Jr. to defeat Los Infernales and Angel de Oro in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls six-man tag team match at the event held at Arena Mexico.

After the match, a mysterious masked man attacked Mistico and hit him with a Codebreaker, followed by a Judas Effect Elbow to the head. The masked man then removed the mask and revealed that he was former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho.

Chris Jericho, who often wrestled in Mexico at the beginning of his career, challenged Mistico to a fight in a promo video after the attack in the ring:

“Mistico, I will challenge you anywhere, anytime, any place. You say so.

You call the Arena Mexico your home, thirty years ago the Arena Mexico was my home and I’m coming back to take my home away from you.”

Mistico replied in Spanish that he was always ready.

There was an official match challenge from Jericho for Friday, July 5th, which Mistico accepted, so it will take place on that day.

Chris Jericho in action at AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door

At the AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door PPV on June 30, Chris Jericho will not have to defend his FTW Title as he is in a six-man tag team match. Jericho will team with Big Bill and a partner to be announced at Collision to face the trio of Samoa Joe, Hook and Katsuyori Shibata.
