Taylor Swift had to do without Travis Kelce at her last Eras Tour concert in Dublin, but the Kansas City Chiefs star was on her mind despite his absence
Taylor Swift paid a loving tribute to her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, during her recent Eras Tour concert in Dublin.
Just days after Kelce made a surprise appearance at one of Swift’s Wembley shows earlier this week, the pop sensation proved that she’s still thinking about him, even if he wasn’t in the audience. The Super Bowl-winning tight end had earlier joined his lady love on stage, much to the delight of her fans.
Although Kelce was not seen in the audience or on stage Friday night, Swift paid tribute to her NFL boyfriend by recreating his iconic celebration while singing “Midnight Rain” from her album “Midnights.” Fans captured the moment she made the gesture during the emotional song about relationships and shared it on X.
Swift sang the lyrics, “And he never thinks about me except when I’m on TV,” before sticking out her tongue and striking an awkward but adorable archer pose. She flashed a cheeky smile to the crowd, who responded with loud cheers. Swift has previously performed this move while singing her hit “So High School,” a song that was rumored to be dedicated to Kelce throughout her tour.
The song is packed with lyrics and references presumably about their relationship, most notably the line, “You know how to have sex, I know Aristotle.” Kelce seemed to confirm the song’s meaning when he ranked it among his lady love’s top three songs and noted that it has “a little sentimental meaning.” Kelce spoke about the rumors that he features in Swift’s lyrics, saying with an air of certainty mixed with speculation, “I think so, I think so, you know what I mean.”
During Swift’s performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” Kelce made a surprise appearance onstage. Wearing a top hat and tails, he played the gallant supporter, lifting Swift off the floor when she feigned fatigue. His encouragement seemed to revive her, allowing the show to continue with Swift energized and Kelce applauding from the sidelines.

ESPN’s Pat McAfee praised Swift’s influence on Kelce, saying it may have been a key factor in his decision to extend his NFL career despite rumors of his retirement. McAfee noted, “I think Taylor motivates him to keep going,” adding that Kelce is likely inspired by her relentless success and worldwide stadium tours.
“I think he’s watching her and thinking, ‘Holy shit, she’s still packing stadiums in every city around the world, she’s still making noise, she’s involved in everything.’ He’s probably thinking, ‘Yeah, that’s exactly the person I need to be with.'”
McAfee continued, praising the power of one’s inner circle: “Because they say you are the company you keep, and the company he keeps is pretty much taking over the world, in an industry that I don’t think it should have taken over as quickly as it certainly has.”
