Sherrone Moore on Michigan’s linebackers: “They’re going to surprise a lot of people”

Under the leadership of the new head coach Sherron MooreThe Michigan Wolverines will set out in 2024 to defend their national championship title.

As far as expectations for the Wolverines this year go, it’s status quo: championship or bust. One of the groups that could help Michigan finish this season as two-time consecutive national champions is the linebacker corps. In a recent talk with the press, the Wolverines’ head coach shed some light on the position and what he expects from them this year.

“The linebackers Jaishawn (Barham) and Ernest (Hausmann) are two of the best in the country,” Moore said. “They’re going to surprise a lot of people, that’s normal. I think we’ve got a good core of guys behind us who can really challenge them and push them. So I’m really excited about those guys.”

Michigan has been known for its outstanding defensive play in recent years, and Barham and Hausmann are the next to carry that torch. But according to more, it’s not just them. Michigan has a lot of talent in the second level of defense, like Junior Colson, Jimmy RolderAnd Michael Pollardall of which are already helping to lead the Wolverines defense to another successful season this season.

Moore explains the challenges of a head coach change after the national title

Moore got the keys to the Michigan Football program under unusual circumstances, the takeover for Jim Harbaugh shortly after winning a national championship. But Moore is not afraid to defend the national title.

Moore, who became head coach at Michigan after his time as offensive coordinator, certainly could have been put in a less pressure-filled situation in his first attempt as a college head coach. It’s just not what he wanted.

“Personally, I never want anything other than to be in a situation that challenges me, and for us, it’s just another pressure because people just say what they want to say about the schedule and this and that, and we just block out the noise and go to work,” Moore said.
