Can the Wolverines finish with an elite TE?

Can the Wolverines finish with an elite TE?

Michigan’s football team is on the hunt for players. In the past week, the Wolverines secured commitments from top-100 safety Kainoa Winston and three-star running back Jasper Parker for the class of 2025, and also secured elite quarterback Brady Hart for the class of 2026. Michigan has another chance to add an elite prospect to the team this weekend when top-100 tight end Andrew Olesh visits for Victors Weekend.

Olesh, a Pennsylvania native ranked as the No. 84 prospect in the nation, is expected to play between Michigan and Penn State. The general consensus is that Michigan football might have a narrow edge, but the Nittany Lions hosted Olesh last weekend and there might be pressure for Olesh to stay close to home.

That being said, Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines have done a fantastic job with the visiting recruits. Every weekend the team gets the recruits excited and consistently puts Michigan football in a great position, and I expect this weekend to be no different.

Olesh is expected to announce his commitment in the weeks following his visit to Ann Arbor. The commitment is rumored to be on July 4, but it could definitely be sooner if Michigan does a good job here.

Top-100 recruits are always hard to come by. In the last two recruiting periods, Michigan has only landed one top-100 recruit. In the last week, they added two (one in 2025, one in 2026). At a position that plays such a large role in Michigan’s offense, signing an elite prospect like Olesh would be huge.

At 6’5″, Olesh would be a top target in Michigan’s offense and would have the opportunity to compete for playing time early. Michigan football has a lot to offer with Olesh and can easily point to the success of Colston Loveland as an example.

I expect the staff to do everything they can to get Olesh on board this weekend. Michigan will need to impress both him and his family to alleviate the pressure of playing so close to home. The Wolverines usually do a fantastic job with families and this weekend needs to be the same.

What’s important here is that 2025 commit Carter Smith will also be on campus. This gives Olesh time to build a deeper relationship with his potential future quarterback, which could be a huge advantage for Michigan. Smith has been very active when it comes to recruiting 2025 players. Smith could have a big impact this weekend, and that’s another point in Michigan’s favor.

This is definitely one to keep an eye on this weekend. Olesh is one of the few visiting players to keep an eye on, and I would keep an eye out for any news on him. Olesh is one of Michigan’s top targets in the 2025 class, and they would love to finish with him this weekend. He’s a guy that could really help give this class some momentum and push it into the top 10. Go Blue.
