Coldplay present new song with Little Simz

Coldplay presented a new song with Little Simz tonight at Glastonbury 2024.

The band, who played their record-breaking fifth headlining gig on the Pyramid Stage tonight (June 29) alongside Friday headliner Dua Lipa, are one of the first acts to have their Glastonbury sets streamed worldwide.

They had many surprises in store for the occasion, bringing Little Simz on stage in the middle of their set to introduce the new track. During their performance, Elyanna accompanied the VT on stage and showed clips from Burna Boy.

Although the title of the song is still unknown, it is rumored to be called “Supernova” and contains the line: “And so we pray” throughout the entire chorus.

Before the rapper took the stage, the band had already played big hits like “Yellow” and a version of “The Scientist” with live orchestral accompaniment, and also brought Victoria Canal on stage for “Paradise.”

The new track is said to be from the upcoming album “Moon Music”, which they announced in January was almost finished and which they described as the “second Music Of The Spheres album”.

Frontman Martin spoke about the pressure of releasing new music, with NME in 2021, when he noted how “intense” it is to keep releasing new music.

“We’re going to make 12 albums. Because it’s a lot of work to put everything into them. I love it and it’s great, but it’s also very intense,” he said. “I feel like because I know the challenge is finite, making this music doesn’t feel difficult, it feels like ‘This is what we’re meant to do.'”

He added: “I don’t think we’re going to do that. I know we’re going to do that in terms of studio albums.”

Earlier this weekend, Chris Martin was apparently spotted handing out LED wristbands for their headlining performance tonight. The wristbands, a staple of Coldplay’s sets, glowed in time with the beat all night long.

Still scheduled for this weekend are performances by SZA, Shania Twain, Janelle Monae, The National, Two Door Cinema Club, Avril Lavigne, Justice, Nia Archives, James Blake, Alvvays, Romy and more.

Camila Cabello’s chaotic set received three stars, while Dua Lipa’s headlining performance on Friday received four stars. IDLES and Fontaines DC snagged a perfect five stars, as did the festival’s first K-pop artists, SEVENTEEN.
