Looking for a series defeat

The Los Angeles Dodgers had their four-game winning streak snapped with a 5-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants and will look to get back on track when the teams resume their series on Saturday. The Dodgers have a 3-1 record on the road so far and have Monday off before beginning a home game.

Tyler Glasnow takes the mound for his 17th start of the season. The right-hander is coming off a dominant outing against the Los Angeles Angels, allowing just one run on two hits in seven innings.

After a rocky start against the New York Yankees earlier this month, Glasnow has posted a 0.64 ERA and 0.43 WHIP with 19 strikeouts in his last two appearances. “The last few have been good,” he said.

“I think the curveball helped me a lot tonight because I could just throw it in for strikes and let it bounce later. But every inning tonight felt a lot sharper.”

Glasnow is 8-5 with a 2.88 ERA, 2.63 FIP, 0.87 WHIP (major league-best) and 12.2 strikeouts per nine in 100 innings pitched this season. He is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in three career appearances (three starts) against the Giants.

San Francisco counters with Erik Miller, who will serve as the opener of a bullpen game. The rookie has a 2-2 record, 3.79 ERA, 4.52 FIP, 1.21 WHIP and 10.2 strikeouts per nine in 38 innings pitched (39 games; seven starts).

Miller has allowed three runs in four appearances against the Dodgers this season.
