The free Edmonds Summer Concert Series returns July 7

Ockham’s Razor will open the summer concert series on July 7 at Edmonds City Park.

Edmonds’ popular free summer concerts in the park will return beginning July 7. The public is invited to enjoy free music every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from July 7 through August 27 at City Park, Hazel Miller Plaza and Hickman Park.

The series offers something for all ages and musical tastes, from world music, country, folk and pop to jazz, R&B, rock and reggae. Sunday concerts are sponsored by Lynnwood Honda and Carter Motors/Lynnwood Acura. Tuesday and Thursday concerts are sponsored by the Hazel Miller Foundation.

The first concert of the season — Sunday, July 7 in City Park – is Ockham’s Razor. Considered both Turbo Celtic and ethnic punk, this Seattle band blends influences from Celtic and Irish folk music with rock, pop, gypsy jazz, punk, bluegrass and folk to create a unique sound in the Celtic folk music genre. At Tuesday, July 9 Enjoy the sounds of the Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) Steel Pan Band from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in Hazel Miller Plaza. Led by percussionist Miho Takekama, the band is comprised of university graduates, students, and members of the PLU community who play a wide variety of popular and traditional arrangements for the steel drum. The first week of the season will conclude with Michele D’Amour & The Love Dealers on Thursday, July 11 at Hazel Miller Plaza from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The group plays a mix of blues, old-school R&B, funk and soul, and performs songs by iconic artists such as Wilson Pickett, Stevie Wonder and The Meters, as well as their own danceable songs.
