The family of Shifty Shellshockreal name Seth Binzerhave broken their silence following the death of Crazy Town frontman at the age of 49.

“For Seth, the world was art – he loved every part of it, from music and fashion to graffiti, skateboarding and his hometown of Los Angeles,” Shellshock’s family said in a statement to The sun on Saturday, June 29. “He loved his three boys more than anything and his devotion to his music and his fans never waned.”

Shellshock was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Monday, June 24. Three days later, the Los Angeles County Coroner confirmed that the artist’s cause of death was an accidental drug overdose.

Shellshock leaves behind three children – sons Halo, Gage and Phoenix – whom he had with three different women and who the statement described as his “proudest achievements.”

“Seth struggled with addiction his entire life, and he did so on a very public platform, which was especially challenging,” his family’s statement continued. “God knows he tried so hard to conquer his demons, but unfortunately he lost his battle.”

They concluded: “We are heartbroken by his loss. Seth’s overwhelming presence touched so many. Seth was a tortured soul, but he was beautiful and had a heart of gold.”

The statement continued: “The cause of death was a combination of prescription drugs and drugs purchased on the street. Shifty was a friend and was desperate to heal himself – unfortunately no one had the right tools to do so, myself included.”
