Meghan Markle ordered Prince Harry to “brutally” snub David Beckham at the Invictus Games – but the football star took revenge: Book

Meghan Markle reportedly banned Prince Harry from being photographed with David Beckham at the 2018 Invictus Games before the disgruntled soccer star sought “revenge” on the royal couple four years later.

The juicy saga is detailed in Tom Bowers’ new book, “The House of Beckham: Money, Sex and Power.” The author claims that the prince and the sportsman were friends for years before their falling out.

Beckham and his wife Victoria were guests at Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018 – but less than six months later, the relationship between the two couples deteriorated.

In October 2018, Beckham attended Harry’s Invictus Games for injured soldiers in Sydney, Australia, but was reportedly kept away from the prince at Markle’s behest.

“Beckham was alone in the Invictus Games stadium,” Bower writes in his biography. “When he arrived on the appointed day to meet Prince Harry, he was baffled as to why the officials were performing a dance to keep him entertained but away from Harry.”

The football player is said to have asked officials why he was not allowed to spend time with the royal family until he learned that “the prince had ordered that the football player should not be allowed near him under any circumstances.”

“Photos of the two of them together were forbidden,” Bower claimed. “The royal rejection was brutal. David Beckham was confused. Why did the prince refuse to meet him?”

“As it later turned out, the exclusion order was issued by Meghan,” the author claimed. “She did not want any media competition from Beckham and especially not from his wife Victoria.”

Beckham was said to have been “stunned” and hurt by the move, but more than four years later he took revenge, Bower claims.

In November 2022, Beckham decided to add a more star-studded cast to a celebration for Prince William and Princess Kate in Boston, helping to overshadow a rival event attended by Harry and Markle.

Beckham “flew 7,600 miles from Qatar to Boston to celebrate the launch of the Royals’ Earthshot Prize alongside the new Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, and President Joe Biden,” Bower writes.

The author claimed that Harry and Meghan “tried to impress Americans at an event in New York” on the same day.

“The Sussexes were inevitably overshadowed by the constellation of celebrities in Boston,” writes Bower. “Beckham had taken revenge for the rejection in Sydney.”

This story is not the only one about the Sussexes in Bowers’ new book about the Beckhams.

During her engagement to Prince Harry, Markle reportedly asked Victoria – the former Spice Girl and now fashion designer – for free clothes and handbags. But the request was “rejected by Buckingham Palace because it was against the rules,” Bower said.

Bower believes that the relationship between the two couples was already in trouble before the “rejection” at the Invictus Games.

According to the new work, Victoria felt “insulted” because she and her husband were not invited to a pre-wedding dinner between Harry and Markle, which was attended by celebrities such as George Clooney.

Meanwhile, it was reported last year that Beckham was “absolutely f***ing furious” after allegations emerged that he or Victoria had leaked stories about the Sussexes to the media.

The accusations are said to have been exchanged during a tense phone call between the two couples.
