Giant’s Causeway suffers serious injuries after falling on famous stones

A visitor to the Giant’s Causeway was taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling onto the iconic stones on Saturday.

Emergency services, including a rescue helicopter and the coastguard, were on the scene on the County Antrim coast this afternoon.

The injured person was taken to hospital after the incident.

Part of the popular tourist attraction was temporarily closed.

“Coleraine and Ballycastle Coastguard teams have been deployed to assist Northern Ireland Emergency Services at the Giant’s Causeway this afternoon,” Coleraine Coastguard confirmed on social media.

“A person had fallen from a great height on the famous stones and sustained serious injuries.

“The Northern Ireland Air Ambulance was also on site.

“The injured person was evacuated and taken to Causeway Hospital.”
