“You can’t checkout,” Sam’s Club members warn, as shoppers must pay extra to shop early under store rules

“You can’t checkout,” Sam’s Club members warn, as shoppers must pay extra to shop early under store rules

SAM’s Club fans are warning each other that early buyers may not be able to checkout if they don’t have the right membership

Some Sam’s Club members are checking the retailer’s store hours.

At certain times, only those who pay for the Premium Plus membership (as opposed to the Club level) can shop in the store.

From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. the store is only open for Plus members.

This is a benefit of the more expensive membership level, so these members get to enjoy a less crowded store.

A Sam’s Club member with a club membership recently asked on Reddit what would happen if they tried to shop during Plus-only hours.

“I have to go in quickly at around 8am tomorrow before I go to work. That’s the club’s early opening time for Plus members. I don’t have a Plus membership, just the regular one,” they explained.

“But they still don’t check our cards at the door. Can I not check out or is this policy not enforced?”

A Sam’s Club customer explained how it works.

“Even if you get through the doors, you will not be able to check out during these hours unless you have a Plus membership,” they wrote.

“If you try to check out before 10am, you will be asked to upgrade at the checkout and lock the checkout yourself,” another chimed in.

I saved nearly $500 by canceling my Costco membership and joining a competitor instead – my fridge/freezer rule helps too

“Even if you come through the door, you can’t check out.”

Some members were angry that the Redditor wanted to break the rules.

“If you want the benefits of a Plus membership, then pay for the Plus membership,” one demanded.

“You are nothing special.”

Sam’s Club Membership Rules

Early shopping is available exclusively to Sam’s Club Plus members Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

On Saturdays the plus hours are from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The same opening hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. apply to all members on Sundays.

“Do you want to come earlier? Pay for Plus,” demanded another.

“You realize you can’t shop before 10.”

PRICE DIFFERENCE

Plus membership costs $110 per year, compared to $50 per year for Club membership.

Additional perks include free shipping on most online items and free curbside pickup.

A Costco member recently switched to Sam’s Club because of a significant difference at checkout.

Others vow to leave Sam’s Club after the refrigerators in one store break.
