Police say counterfeit money is being distributed in stores in southwest Michigan

TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP, MI – Police are searching for a woman who is circulating counterfeit money in stores in southwest Michigan.

The Michigan State Police Marshall Post reports that a woman has been supplying stores with counterfeit money to load onto an online card. She is believed to be working with a group of people to “put these counterfeit bills into circulation,” a press release said.

Police describe her as a black woman in her early to mid-20s wearing a black sweatshirt and a yellow headband.

Police are also urging businesses in the region to be cautious when receiving large amounts of cash.
