Chris Jericho makes a surprise appearance at CMLL

Chris Jericho made an unannounced visit to Arena Mexico.

At the CMLL Super Viernes on Friday, June 28th in Mexico City, Jericho shocked the fans in attendance with a surprise appearance in which he brutally defeated Mistico.

Mexican Superstar Mistico had just teamed with Esfinge and Volador Jr. to defeat Los Infernales and Angel de Oro in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls Six-Man Tag Team Match when a masked man entered the ring to take him out. The mysterious assailant took Mistico down with the Judas Effect before revealing himself as an AEW star.

After the attack, Jericho challenged Mistico and said:

Mistico, I will challenge you anytime, anywhere, in any place. You say so.

You call Arena Mexico your home, thirty years ago Arena Mexico was my home and I’m coming back to take my home away from you.

In response to the attack and challenge, Mistico posted the following on social media:

I am always ready for those who come and I go with everything 😡👊🏾

The two will meet at CMLL’s July 5 show at Arena Mexico, but they could face off sooner. Both stars will appear at Forbidden Door on Sunday, June 30.

Jericho, Big Bill and a mystery partner will face the team of Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata and Hook on the PPV main card, while Mistico will face Yota Tsuji, Titan and Hiromu Takahashi with the Lucha Bros in the Zero Hour preview.

Chris Jericho is not the first AEW star to make a surprise appearance at a CMLL show

At CMLL x NJPW Fantastica Mania On June 21, AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone surprised Mexican fans by facing her Forbidden Door opponent at Arena Mexico in Mexico City.

At the show, Mone confronted and brawled with Stephanie Vaquer and competed in a winner-takes-all match for the TBS Championship and the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship.

The cross-platform PPV will feature a NJPw star battling for the TNT Championship in a ladder match.
