Two elite running backs from the class of 2026 attend the Michigan Football BBQ

The Michigan Football Recruiting BBQ will no longer be held the same way, or at least not at the same time, following a change in recruiting rules.

Next July is going to be a dead time. Right now, July is mostly a dead time, except for the last weekend or so when the Michigan football team had their recruiting BBQ.

The Wolverines will host it again in July, and it’s shaping up to be a star-studded affair for Michigan football. For the Class of 2026, UM is already working to bring some elite talent to campus, and 2026 QB commit Brady Hart is at the forefront of that.

Hart will be back on campus for the Michigan Recruiting BBQ, and he will be joined by two of the top-ranked running backs in the class of 2026.

Savion Hiter is the No. 3 running back in the class of 2026 according to On3 Industry Rankings. Hiter is 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, and his visit to Michigan Football for the BBQ in July will be his second trip to Ann Arbor.

The Wolverines have done a solid job in the state of Virginia. Hiter has visited Ohio State and Georgia twice in 2024, so they are a factor along with Michigan football. Virginia is currently the top seed, according to the On3 prediction engine.

Javion Osborne, ranked 56th overall in the class of 2026 according to the On3 industry rankings, will also be coming to the BBQ, according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound running back from Texas hasn’t been to Michigan yet. Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma are all contenders, but it’s a good sign that the talent is back on campus for the BBQ.
