Jackie’s latest statement about his “old” appearance

Jackie Chan updated his fans on his health condition and shared that he currently looks much older than his age due to his role in an upcoming film.

He wrote in a long message on his Instagram account: “Not long ago, many friends saw some recent photos of me on the Internet and were all worried about my health. I would like to take this opportunity to tell everyone: Don’t worry! It’s just a character appearance for my latest film. For the character, I have to have white hair and a white beard and look old.”

Chan’s post also included a series of throwback photos from his illustrious career. “Before today, many friends reminded me, ‘Jackie, today is your 70th birthday!’ Every time I hear that number, my heart stops for a second – I’m already 70 years old?” he wrote.

Chan continued, “After I recovered from the shock, the second thing that came to mind was a saying my big brother Sammo Hung once said: ‘To grow old is a blessing.’ Especially for us stunt people, to grow old is a great blessing. A big thank you to everyone for your birthday wishes. I hope you all stay happy and healthy.”

Chan did not reveal which role might see him age, although he is currently slated to appear in the next Karate Kid film, which hits theaters in December. Both Chan and Ralph Macchio will reprise their roles from the popular 1984 film.
