Marcell Ozuna joins Atlanta Braves legend Hank Aaron in the prestigious club

In this season The Atlanta Braves The best offensive player was designated hitter Marcell Ozuna. But his performance since the start of last season alone makes him one of the Braves’ all-time best, including the legendary Hank Aaron.

While he may not receive the All-Star honors he deserves due to the flawed fan voting system, Ozuna is, in many ways, having a season for the ages. As many know, the Dominican native has had one of the best bats in baseball since this time last season.

According to MLB.com sportswriter Mark Bowman, the 33-year-old has now gone down in Atlanta history, standing shoulder to shoulder with the likes of the legendary Hank Aaron, a comparison that triggers a wave of nostalgia among Braves fans.

“Ozuna joins Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Fred McGriff and Andres Galarraga as the only Braves players to post a batting average of .300 or better in a 200-game stretch in franchise history, with 55+ HRs, 160+ RBIs and an OPS of .960 or better,” Bowman wrote on X.

The Hammer. The Crime Dawg. The Big Cat…The Big Bear is in good company.

Ozuna is now officially part of an exclusive club.

At one point, many Braves fans thought Marcell’s career with the organization was over. Between off-the-field issues and a .221 batting average in 2021, things looked bleak for the former St. Louis Cardinal. However, he has performed so well as the team’s designated hitter over the past two seasons that his offensive power has allowed him to catch up with the Braves greats, especially Hank Aaron. His journey from adversity to success touches us all.

A constant smile in the clubhouse and the inventor of ‘Carving Bear’ has been the driving force behind coach Brian Snitker’s team’s success this season. His offensive prowess over the last 200 games has earned him a place among only four other Braves in team history.

The team will need Ozuna to continue to play hard the rest of the season. With numerous other key players injured, he is key to keeping the team’s playoff hopes alive.
