Man arrested in Richmond for animal cruelty after death of Pomeranian

A man was arrested for animal cruelty following a violent incident involving a Pomeranian in Richmond.

On June 28, officers from Fort Bend Police Department 1 responded to an emergency call at a veterinary clinic in Cinco Ranch regarding an injured animal.

After an investigation, it was found that Pengfei Ji allegedly inflicted serious injuries on their Pomeranian during an argument with his wife at their home in Richmond.

Surveillance footage showed Ji grabbing the dog by its hind legs, swinging it over his head and hurling it into a doghouse several times before throwing the animal into the yard. The dog succumbed to its injuries and was pronounced dead at the vet’s office.

Ji, 31, was arrested by officers from the 1st District on a charge of third-degree cruelty to animals. He was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.

“This just leaves me speechless,” said Constable Chad Norvell in a press release. “I’m glad we were able to put him in jail and that he will be brought to justice for his horrific actions.”
