Emilia Clarke says she would ‘love’ to direct ‘Down the Road’ (exclusive)

Emilia Clarke is open to trying new things in her career.

While chatting with PEOPLE about her new partnership with Pegasus Distillery, the 37-year-old actress also talks about directing, but admits she’s not committed to it yet.

“Oh my goodness, definitely at some point,” Clarke says of being behind the camera. “It’s something I would love to do.”

“I mean, my favorite thing is helping people tape themselves for auditions. I’ll say, ‘Yes, I’ll do that.’ I love it. I absolutely love it,” she continues. “Right now, though, I feel like I have a lot more acting ability in me.”

Adds the game of Thrones Alumna: “The thing about being a director is that you have to take two years out of your life to just do this one thing. And I thought to myself, ‘Yeah, but right now I’d rather be acting than directing.’ But I would love for my career to end there. That would be great.”

According to her IMDB page, Clarke has several upcoming projects in the pipeline, including McCarthy, An ideal wife, The Queen of Fashion And The Twits.

When asked what she aspires to do professionally, the actress tells PEOPLE: “Honestly, I’m so driven by directing right now.”

“So for me it’s less about the individual characters, thoughts or ideas, but more about the people I want to work with,” she continues.

Clarke notes that her goal is to “find a director who I admire for his creativity and who I can learn from.”

“Then it doesn’t really matter what the role is, you can just gain experience and learn from someone who is a creative idol,” she adds. “That’s the dream. That’s what I strive for.”
