Chiefs Chris Jones discusses his training camp appearance with Andy Reid

The offseason is coming to a close as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for the new year and a chance to win a third straight game. Training camp begins in a few weeks and the franchise is happy to have the experienced Chris Jones back in the fold with no issues in contract negotiations.

The Chiefs All-Pro spoke with Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star at his youth soccer camp earlier this week regarding his availability for training camp.

“I’ve already talked to Andy (Reid) about me missing training camp. I’m a little older, right?” Jones said jokingly. “I can feel it. I can feel it when we have a day in training camp. Then give me two days off and one day off and maybe we can work something out, you know?”

Jones had another stellar year in 2023 without training camp, preseason, and sitting out the season opener. A full training camp with the soon-to-be 30-year-old will be a welcome sight for the coaching staff, especially Reid, who still hasn’t responded to Jones’ request.

“He just looked at me,” Jones said. “So the conversation is still ongoing.”

The always convincing Jones might get a bad reputation for his productivity, but Reid’s training camps are known for their rigor and detail.
