Céline Dion “had to change songs on stage before diagnosis”; now she is planning a return to Las Vegas

Céline Dion has announced that she is working on her recovery and is already planning a new show in her beloved city of Las Vegas.

The French-Canadian singer has given her only interview in the UK to BBC News, revealing that she had struggled to sing on stage for several years before being diagnosed with the neurological disorder stiff person syndrome (which causes muscle spasms throughout the body), and that when she felt really challenged, she would ask for her famous songs to be sung in a key lower.

“It just felt a bit weird, like a little cramp,” Dion told BBC News. “My voice was struggling, I had to push a bit.”

Despite her difficulties, the singer said she felt pressure to continue because she knew her tour was booked up to a year and a half in advance and she felt she couldn’t cancel.

Dion finally received a diagnosis and shared the news with her huge fan base in an Instagram video in December 2022.

The superstar spent 16 years in Las Vegas and earned more than $680 million. Now she wants to return to the same stage as soon as she feels physically able. She told the BBC: “I will be on stage. I don’t know exactly when, but believe me, I will be screaming it out loud. I can’t wait.”

In the documentary, Dion tells the story of her fight back to health I am: Celine Dionwhich is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video on June 25. In addition to her renewed appearances, she also wants to raise money and awareness for the disease she suffers from.
