Iran warns Israel of ‘devastating war’ if it attacks Lebanon | News on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Israeli forces carry out a series of attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon as retaliatory strikes intensify.

Iran has warned Israel against “full-scale military aggression” in Lebanon and said it would lead to a “devastating war,” the Islamic Republic’s UN mission said.

“All options, (including) the full involvement of all resistance fronts, are on the table,” the mission wrote in a post on X late Friday, referring to Iran-allied armed groups throughout the region.

She described Israel’s threats to attack Hezbollah in Lebanon as “psychological warfare” and “propaganda.”

Since the current conflict in Gaza broke out on October 7, there have been daily exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah on the border between the two countries. Fears of a full-scale war grew this month after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was preparing for a “very tense operation” on the border with Lebanon.

An Israeli army spokesman said early Saturday that Israeli forces had carried out a series of attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon.

“In the last few hours, warplanes have attacked several Hezbollah targets, including an organization military site in the Zabqin region, two operational infrastructure sites in the Khiam region, and a Hezbollah building in the al-Adissa (Odaisseh) region,” the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reports.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said his country did not want to wage war against Hezbollah, but the army was ready to do so.

“We are working on a political solution. That is always the better option,” Gallant said on Friday during a visit to troops near Israel’s northern border with Lebanon.

Gallant said in the United States this week that Israel was preparing “for any scenario.”

“Hezbollah is well aware that we can cause massive damage in Lebanon if a war breaks out,” he said in Washington DC

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has threatened a war “without restrictions, without rules and without limits” in the event of a large-scale Israeli offensive against Lebanon.

Amid growing tensions, several countries, including Germany, Canada, the Netherlands and the United States, have asked their nationals to leave the country or avoid travel there.
