US intelligence warns of war between Israel and Hezbollah if ceasefire in Gaza crisis is not reached – Firstpost

Amid growing tensions in the Middle East, US intelligence agencies warned that a full-scale war between Israel and Lebanon could break out within weeks if all parties involved in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas fail to reach a ceasefire.

While I was POLITICSUS intelligence officials said a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza crisis was important to prevent general unrest in the Middle East.

However, prospects for an early agreement remain bleak as Israel continues its ground operation in Rafah. They also pointed out that both the Israeli military and Hezbollah are reportedly preparing for a full-scale conflict, including trying to acquire additional weapons.

Tensions remain at an all-time high

Accordingly POLITICSTwo senior US intelligence officials said Israel was trying to “quickly rebuild its supplies and troop capacity.”

Meanwhile, the Iranian UN mission said that if Israel launches a “full-scale military aggression” in Lebanon, it will result in “a devastating war.”

“Although Iran considers the Zionist regime’s propaganda about attacking Lebanon as psychological warfare, should it escalate into full-scale military aggression, it will be a devastating war. All options, including the full participation of all resistance fronts, are on the table,” the Iranian mission wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Even though the current conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is still relatively contained, it must be pointed out that the current situation is the most serious confrontation between the two parties in 18 years.

Since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas, the two sides have been engaged in fierce clashes. The war, which was triggered by a surprise attack by Hamas in southern Israel, has already resulted in the deaths of over 40,000 Palestinian civilians.

Several countries issue travel warnings

Given the risk of full-scale conflict, many European countries have issued warnings to their citizens urging them to leave Lebanon. The US State Department has also issued a travel advisory advising American citizens to “reconsider” travel to Lebanon.

“Intelligence indicates that the trigger for war – such as a major attack by either side – is likely to come without warning,” one of the intelligence officials said. POLITICS and talk about the reasons why such warnings are issued.
