Elizabeth Holmes didn’t have a “deep voice” as a student, Stanford professor claims

Elizabeth Holmes’ integrity is questioned by the HBO documentary The inventor: Looking for blood in Silicon Valley and ABC Radio’s Podcast The dropout Details on the former CEO’s case.

What is also being examined is her deep baritone voice.

In the fall of 2014, the CEO of Theranos became one of the Forbes: The richest women in America and her startup company was valued at $9 billion. About 20 months later, Holmes’ net worth was estimated at $0 and she was charged with an “elaborate, years-long” fraud that defrauded her of millions.

Now she is accused of another alleged lie. Her voice was examined in both the HBO film and the ABC Radio podcast.

The podcast explores Holmes’ life in eight episodes and gets to the bottom of the mystery behind her striking voice as Stanford professor Dr. Phyllis Gardner recalls their first meeting when Holmes was still a student.

“When she came to me, she didn’t have a deep voice,” Gardner said on the podcast. “The next time I saw her, she was at the Harvard Medical School board meeting where she was being introduced. She spoke in this deep voice and I just thought, ‘Oh my God.’ It was pretty weird.”

Former Theranos employee Ana Arriola, who Holmes personally poached from Apple, claimed on the podcast that she witnessed Holmes revealing her true voice after a few drinks.

“Maybe it was at one of the company parties, and maybe she drank too much or something, but she fell out of character and showed that that wasn’t necessarily her true voice,” Arriola said. “Maybe she should have been more convincing to present a personality in a room of male (venture capitalists), I’m not entirely sure.”
