This Concord racing shop wins every NASCAR Cup Series race

CONCORD, NC (CHARLOTTE SPROTS LIVE) — Fresh off another NASCAR race weekend, the Technique Chassis crew is back to work in their Concord shop. The team of man and machine work on every detail in the heart of the racing district to build the most important part of any motor vehicle.

“We do use robotic welding, but one difference between robots and humans is that the robot doesn’t care, the human does,” said Ronnie Johncox, owner of Technique Chassis. “To provide you with the highest quality, you absolutely need the skilled technicians we have here at Technique Chassis.”

Even though Technique Chassis is not a racing team, it is safe to say that they are guaranteed to win every race in the Cup Series. When NASCAR introduced the Next Gen Car, Johncox and his company were awarded the contract to build the chassis for every race.

“We’re very proud of what we do,” Johncox said. “We have some of the best manufacturers and designers in the sport. We win every week, which makes it kind of nice.”

For the former IndyCar driver, the most important thing is to be able to give something back to motorsport.

“As a competitor, I obviously love racing and driving cars,” said Johncox. “I’m very proud to be able to give back to the sport through my manufacturing knowledge and experience in a different way that I couldn’t do as a pure driver.”

Now in its third season, the Next Gen Car has completely changed Cup Series racing as we know it. The Technique Chassis crew’s primary job is to be as precise as possible in supporting each race team.

“We want every team to have an equal opportunity to compete and win,” Johncox said. “We work very hard with NASCAR to make these parts as dimensionally accurate as possible so there is no real advantage between the parts.”

Design is just one of the key components that have made Technique Chassis an integral part of a sport that continues to move into the future.

“To build a successful car, you have to have great design, use great materials and have great manufacturing,” Johncox said. “We are just one of the three parts of that tripod.”
