Iran’s UN mission warns Israel of a “devastating war” if it attacks Lebanon

The Iranian UN mission said on Friday that if Israel launches a “full-scale military aggression” in Lebanon, it will lead to “a devastating war.”

The Iranian mission also stated in the post on X that in such a case, “all options, including the full participation of all resistance fronts, are on the table.”

The Israeli military said on Friday that about 25 rockets had been fired from Lebanon toward northern Israel, damaging buildings and starting fires. Tensions between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah threaten to escalate into a full-scale war.

Israeli artillery bombed the sources of the rocket fire and the military said Israeli warplanes also hit Hezbollah infrastructure in the Jabal Safi area, north of the city of Nabatieh.

The Israeli air defense system also failed to intercept three drones from Lebanon that entered Israeli airspace, the military said. Firefighters were sent to the north to extinguish the fires.

The cross-border shelling came after Israel’s defense minister told troops on the northern border that he was still seeking a diplomatic agreement to calm tensions along the border, but that the military was ready for battle.

“We are not looking for war, but we are ready for it,” said Yoav Gallant. He added that if Hezbollah “decides on war, we will know what to do.”
