Hawks’ resignation of Dejounte reveals full value of Spurs’ controversial transfer

When the San Antonio Spurs traded Dejounte Murray, fans were emotional. There was a mix of anger, frustration, sadness and confusion among the loyal supporters. It was understandable. Murray had developed into an All-Star and All-Defensive player who had to overcome countless difficult circumstances to get where he was. The Spurs helped, but Murray showed determination and everyone was extremely proud to see him in the silver and black.

It was only after the transfer that the fanbase turned against him, even though it was his own fault. His comments in response to fans expressing their anguish over his departure were unnecessary and childish, revealing a lack of maturity despite his development in so many other areas.

Now, in the present, his name has been mentioned as a possible trade item that the Spurs might be interested in reacquiring. However, that is no longer possible as the Atlanta Hawks just traded him to the Pelicans, and Spurs fans, who never forgave him for his words, couldn’t be happier.

Timing is everything and Brian Wright looks like Cronos, the Greek god of time, in the flesh. Murray wasn’t going to lead this version of the Spurs to a championship and it wasn’t hard to tell. Point guards don’t usually lead teams to the promised land. The last time the point guard before Steph Curry was clearly the best player on a championship team was Isaiah Thomas on the Bad Boys Pistons.

This allowed the Spurs to reach their lowest point – after the Derrick White trade that followed shortly thereafter – to get Victor Wembanyama. As a result, the Spurs’ future looks brighter than ever. The fans are constantly buzzing with excitement and there are people openly promoting coming to the Alamo City and joining the French generation phenomenon.

Meanwhile, the Hawks are giving up just a few years after the deal and blowing up their entire roster. Thanks to their ingenuity, San Antonio has some of the league’s best draft capitalists in its pocket, and things are looking up. Wright has come under fire from many diehard fans desperate to see the Spurs get back on track, but this is just another example of smart deals with a keen eye on the future.

While fans still want this to become something special soon, management cannot build on the patience of fans. They have a reputation for doing things right, and they continue to do so, even when observers don’t see the vision.
