Kim Kardashian has “overcome” the feud with Taylor Swift and wants the singer to “move on” after the release of “thanK you aIMee”: Source

Because of the capitalization of the three letters and the lyrics about bullying, fans have theorized that the song is about the couple’s feud.

The release of Taylor Swift’s The “Tortured Poets” section has reignited interest in the feud between the singer and Kim Kardashian.

Swift, 34, surprised her fans on April 19 by releasing a double album, just two hours after the release of her 11th studio album. TTPD: The Anthologywas released and one track in particular caught fans’ attention – and sparked speculation that it could possibly be referring to 43-year-old Kardashian.

In “thanK you aIMee,” Swift sings about her experiences with bullying, and the lyrics and the capitalization of the three letters in the title (KIM) led fans to believe that the song was a dig at the SKIMS founder.

A source told PEOPLE of Kardashian’s reaction to the song: “She’s fed up with it and thinks Taylor should move on.”

Kardashian “doesn’t understand why (Swift) keeps bringing this up,” the source says. “It’s literally been years.”

In the chorus of “thanK you aIMee,” Swift sings, “All the time you were throwing punches, I was building something / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / I screamed ‘Fuck you, Aimee’ at the night sky while the blood flowed / But I can’t forget how you healed me.”

Later, she changes the chorus and now sings: “All this time you were lashing out and it was all for nothing / And our town looks so small from up here / I screamed ‘Thank you, Aimee’ into the night sky and the stars are breathtaking / ‘Cause I can’t forget how you healed me.”

The song also notes that Swift removes “all the really crucial clues” about who the song is about, and admits, “I changed your name,” which fans take as a hint that Swift is addressing her feud with Kardashian in the song.

The feud between the two erupted in 2016 when Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West sang about Swift in his song “Famous,” rapping: “I feel like Taylor and I might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous.” West, 46, claimed Swift approved of the song, which the singer later denied.

In a statement from a spokesperson at the time, Swift said she was “never made aware of the actual lyric ‘I made that bitch famous,'” and Kardashian, 43, defended her then-husband, as she later posted on Keeping up with the Kardashians.

To prove her side of the story, Kardashian subsequently released edited footage of the phone call between West and Swift. However, West conspicuously did not mention the lyric “I made that bitch famous” during the call (which was later leaked in full).

By 2019, Kardashian claimed that they had “all moved on” from the feud during an appearance on See what’s happening livebut in a rare interview, Swift seemingly denied any such repairs to the relationship.

“It would be nice if we got an apology from the people who bully us,” she said Elleapparently referring to the illegally recorded phone call and the subsequent mention in West’s song. “But maybe I’ll just have the satisfaction of knowing that I could survive it and succeed in spite of it all.”

Recently she has added in her profile for TIMESwift, who was named Person of the Year 2023, reflected on the situation, saying it took her “psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.”

“It’s a completely staged lie in the form of an illegally recorded phone call that Kim Kardashian edited and then released to tell everyone I’m a liar,” she said.

“I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to answer phone calls. I pushed most people in my life away because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I got really, really low,” Swift admitted.

After the release The “Tortured Poets” sectionThe 14-time Grammy winner wrote on Instagram that the collection of songs “reflects events, opinions and feelings of a fleeting and fatalistic moment – a moment that was both sensational and sad.”

“That period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and nailed shut. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once the wounds have healed. And upon closer inspection, many of them turned out to be self-inflicted,” she continued. “This author firmly believes that our tears become sacred in the form of ink on a page. Once we have told our saddest story, we can break free. And then all that remains is tortured poetry.”
