LEBANON – Frankie Muniz, better known as Malcolm from the popular sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle,” made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut Friday night at the Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway.

Muniz drove for Reaume Brothers Racing.

Muniz’s truck began to overheat on lap 86, causing him to go behind the wall. He finished the race in 31st place, 20 laps down. Christian Eckes won the race after leading every lap.

Last week, a post on the Reaume Brothers’ X platform (formerly Twitter) announced that Muniz will compete in four races this season, with Nashville being his first.

In the post, the team also announced that the former Hollywood star will race in Bristol and Kansas City, Kansas, in the Truck Series, while also competing in Brooklyn, Michigan, in the ARCA Menards Series.

Muniz began his racing career in 2004, when he competed as a celebrity in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race. In 2007, Muniz moved to the Atlantic Championship Series, then called the Champ Car Atlantic Series, where he raced until a wrist injury sidelined him during the 2009 season.

In 2011, he quickly returned to the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race.

Stock car racing was Muniz’s next stop in 2021, where he drove in the SRL Pro Late Model series for High Point Racing. Muniz was notably the pace car driver at the 2001 Daytona 500, which killed racer Dale Earnhardt.
