Since the Metropolitan Police Department restarted its DUI Strike Team a month ago, the group has already made dozens of arrests, according to the agency.
The LVMPD says its DUI Strike Team, consisting of 10 police officers, uses collision data to “ensure there are more officers on the road during peak traffic times” to track fatal crashes.
“LVMPD’s DUI Strike Team is comprised of 10 officers who make a huge difference on the streets,” the department said.
LVMPD on Wednesday released the following statistics for the group since the program restarted on May 18:
- 100 arrests for drunk driving
- 1,191 vehicle stops
- 988 quotes
- 72 vehicles towed
- 8 firearms seized
The team, part of the LVMPD’s Traffic Bureau, also provided insight into some of the items the group seized in the first month after their return.
