Nashville singer-songwriter found dead in car

Terri Lynn Kathey, a Nashville singer-songwriter, was found dead Tuesday, days after she disappeared in Tennessee.

WTVC ABC News Channel 9 reports that the 71-year-old blues and gospel singer was found at a welcome center near Chattanooga.

“I believe investigators have been in contact with the family and local law enforcement in that area,” an MNPD spokesperson told WTVC. “The cause of death is unknown at this time, but it appears it was most likely a natural death.”

Kathey, who also performed under the name Terri Lynn Blues, owned a courier service with her husband Kevin Kathey. Terri Lynn Kathey reportedly disappeared on Sunday while trying to pick up a package that was on its way to Chattanooga.

A Facebook post by family friend Kerry Pharr suggested that Kathey was found in her car after a possible heart attack.

Kathey’s management group, New Breed Music Group, shared the news of her death in a post honoring her music and Christian faith.

“It is with sad hearts that we announce that Terri Lynn Kathy has returned home to God,” the post said. “We have known each other for 35 years. Terri Lynn allowed us to produce her last album, ‘Bad Blues Good News’ and to use us as her management company and record label. Terri had the kindest heart and wanted to spread God’s word through her music. We will forever miss her beautiful smile and inspiration.”

“She leaves behind her husband Kevin Kathey and her two daughters Lisa and Karole. Her love for God, music and life will be remembered through her music for generations to come. We love you Terri Lynn, sing with God’s angels. Thank you to everyone who helped us spread the word. Please join us in prayer.”
