Lil Nas X song for the sequel to “Beverly Hills Cop” “Here We Go!”: Listen

You have the right to remain silent, but now that Lil Nas X’s catchy new single “Here We Go!” is being released for Netflix’s upcoming Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F fallen.

“Here We Go!” features a prominent sample of the tinny “Axel F” theme song, originally written by Harold Faltermeyer. The 25-year-old rapper asserts his place as a top dog on “Here We Go!” with intense bass drums and a trap beat. “And tell them don’t die tryna catch us/ Could go a million miles would’t catch up,” he sings on the track, which was released on Friday (June 28). “Move, tell ’em just move/ Tell ’em just move, move, move.”

“Axel F” was one of Faltermeyer’s top 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1985, reaching number 3.

Lil Nas X’s first solo release since January’s “Where Do We Go Now?”, the new song serves as both Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F‘s main theme and in the credits. The film premieres on Netflix on July 3 and is the fourth installment in the Eddie Murphy-led franchise after Beverly Hills Cop III in 1994.

“It was actually pretty crazy,” said the “Old Town Road” artist when he recently met with the Axel F cast. “I was a little emotional… I enjoy doing it. I hope I don’t get butchered by people who love the original.”

“Nah, your track is awesome,” Murphy assured him, as captured in a video posted on Netflix’s Instagram.

The actor added: “I’m excited to have new music and to have this brother involved in it.”

In addition to “Here We Go!”, LNX has so far released the solo single “J Christ” as well as collaborations with Camila Cabello (“He Knows”) and Kevin Abstract (“Tennessee”) in 2024. He has not released an album since his debut LP in 2021 Monterowhich peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200.

The Georgia native also spoke about his new film in a now-deleted Instagram post earlier this week, writing: “I’m so excited to release the best song ever this Friday! And I’m also sorry for being so scared of my art lately. I’m coming back to myself. I’m going to make you very proud.”
