Man regrets sending his wife a Guns N’ Roses song for their anniversary

Man regrets sending his wife a Guns N’ Roses song for their anniversary

A man has apparently fallen from grace because he sent his wife a certain Guns N’ Roses song for their anniversary.

The man, whose username on Reddit is Surgeon Michael, shared on the platform that he “made a mistake” on his 14th wedding anniversary earlier this week. If you’re familiar with Guns N’ Roses’ song catalog, you probably know where this is going.

“There are not many ways to celebrate 14 years of marriage. I don’t listen to many GN’R albums anymore, but my brain was like oh yes, there was one called ’14 Years’,” he wrote in the post.

The track was included on the band’s 1991 album Use Your Illusion II, and features vocals from rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin and Axl Rose.

“So I sent my wife this song on YouTube with no context and then started the operation because I thought I had done something thoughtful. I didn’t remember the lyrics as well as I thought I did. She didn’t particularly like the love song.”

If you want to refresh your memory – erm – the chorus goes: “It was 14 years of silence / It was 14 years of pain / It was 14 years that are gone forever / That I will never have again.”

And the verses aren’t much better.

He didn’t elaborate on how his wife reacted to the song, but considering he admitted the mistake in the post’s title, it’s safe to say he is indeed falling from grace.

“It’s more of a breakup song after 14 years of pain,” someone responded to the post.

“Now you have to send her ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ for damage control,” suggested another.

Let’s hope he chooses a better song for their 15th anniversary.
