“I consider them to be in a completely different category”

In a new cover story for Rolling Stonereleased on Monday, June 17, the singer spoke about her love for the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer and compared her career to Swift’s.

The “Nonsense” singer opened for Swift on the first international dates of her Eras Tour in Latin America, Asia and Australia and ended her final tour with the superstar on March 9 in Singapore.

“I think she’s so different,” Carpenter told the publication about Swift. “I could never compare my life, my career, my trajectory to anything that even comes close to what she’s accomplished.”

“She always puts out music at a time when I didn’t know I needed those songs,” Carpenter said. “We talk very, very openly about our mutual love and admiration…”

The 25-year-old praised Swift’s new album The “Tortured Poets” section and revealed that she was lucky enough to sing a song by before it came out.

“She played me ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ before it came out, and that’s one of my favorite songs too.”

Carpenter also spoke about the public obsession surrounding her relationship with Barry Keoghanand how she deals with fame as her rise to stardom continues.

“How can I avoid that question?” Carpenter joked shyly when asked if the Saltburn Star is her boyfriend. “The (dating) pool is the pool, and when you meet people who seem authentic and are so brilliant and great in every way, that’s exactly what you do.”

Turning the conversation back to her music, the “Please Please Please” singer said that while she sometimes wants a little privacy when it comes to her love life, she understands fans’ interest in the couple.

The couple first sparked love rumors last year and practically confirmed their relationship after posing for photos together at the Met Gala. Most recently, they reaffirmed their connection in the video for Carpenter’s recently released “Please Please Please” from her highly anticipated album. Short and sweetIn the video, Keoghan plays her lover.

“Obviously I write songs about how I feel, so I guess it’s not that surprising that people are interested in who and what these songs are about,” she continued. “It’s something that just comes with it.”

When asked what she wanted her fans to learn from her music, the 25-year-old replied that she hoped to give them “a guide through life” through her mistakes.
