Scottish singer takes to Glastonbury’s iconic pyramid stage alongside music legend

A Scottish singing sensation has continued her rise after taking to the iconic Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this weekend alongside a British music legend.

Rianne Downey, a rising star of the country folk scene, expressed her excitement at X after playing a set alongside former Housemartins and Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton on Friday night.

The up-and-coming singer from Bellshill has been making music for most of her adult life, from performing on the streets of Glasgow to livestreaming her powerful songs during lockdown.

So it’s no surprise that she was overwhelmed when she played in front of over 130,000 fans on one of the most famous stages in the world on Friday night.

The 24-year-old wrote to X: “Just played with the incredible @PaulHeatonSolo on the Pyramid Stage, thanks @glastonbury.”

She also shared a video of herself singing The Beautiful South’s famous single “Rotterdam” on stage while Paul plays the harmonica next to her.

Wearing a beautiful custom-made dress and corset with cowboy boots, Rianne seemed to have impressed the crowd with her talent.

Fans responded to her post on X with great enthusiasm. One wrote: “Just awesome! You’ve gained a fan.”
