Sarah Michelle Gellar, icon of the 90s and popular scream queen, is in “Dexter: Original Sin”. She plays the CSI chief of the Miami Metro Police Department.

Michael C. Hall played Dexter Morgan for years

Gellar is the latest star to join the cast of the new series, which is led by Patrick Gibson, who plays the role of Dexter Morgan. “Dexter: Original Sin” is a prequel to “Dexter,” the hit Showtime series about a blood spatter analyst who works for the Miami police department and moonlights as a serial killer. The series ran for eight seasons and received several accolades, including awards for the acting performance of its lead actor, Michael C. Hall. The franchise has proven to be extremely successful; a miniseries titled “Dexter: New Blood” was released in 2020.

Gellar will guest star as Tanya Martin. She joins a cast including Gibson, Christian Slater, Patrick Dempsey, Molly Brown, James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu and Reno Wilson.

Gellar is a major pop culture icon, known for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and films such as Scooby-Doo, Cruel Intentions, I Know What You Did Last Summer and many more. “Sarah Michelle Gellar is a pop culture icon who perfectly complements our world-class cast of Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey and others,” said Nina Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Network.
