BLACK SABBATH – TONY IOMMI photo book announced by Rufus Publications

Rufus Publications has announced Iommi – The Photographs. Tony has collaborated with renowned photographer Ross Halfin to produce a 340-page deluxe book spanning the earliest days of Black Sabbath through to his recent partnership with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

The book features exclusive written contributions from Sir Brian May, Ozzy Osbourne, James Hetfield and Phil Anselmo and will be available in both standard and deluxe signed limited editions. Pre-order before July 31st at a discounted price here.

Over the past two years, Tony has worked with renowned music photographer Ross Halfin to compile this luxurious 340-page photo book of his music career, from the early days of Black Sabbath to the opening of the Black Sabbath Ballet at Birmingham Royal in 2023. This suitably heavy work is a tribute to one of the most innovative guitarists in music history, and as Ozzy notes in his exclusive afterword: “If someone asked me who the leader of Black Sabbath is, it would have to be Tony, wouldn’t it? Of course we all contributed, but without Tony’s riffs we wouldn’t have stood a chance.”

The book is a compendium of carefully selected images from every era of Tony’s career, many from Ross Halfin’s own archive, and the book also includes other exclusive written contributions from some of music’s greatest talents and friends of Tony’s. These include Sir Brian May, James Hetfield and Phil Anselmo. As Sir Brian May notes in his introduction: “Ross Halfin has taken images of Tony in a variety of settings over the years, as you will see in this book. The images show a man of great power and presence, as befits a huge riff master.”

Tony Iommi himself says: “I really appreciate all the work Ross did as a photographer and editor of the book. These photos represent my career and the memories they evoke remind me of what an amazing journey we’ve been on. So many times I looked down from the stage and saw Ross in the middle of the mosh pit, fighting for his corner to get just the right photo. Cheers Ross, the book is a testament to our long friendship and the many defining moments in my life that you captured.”
