Olly Murs admits he named his daughter after a famous footballer

Olly Murs confessed in a cheeky Instagram Q&A that he named his newborn daughter after a famous football friend.

The Troublemaker singer was on his way to Essex when he decided to answer a few questions about his life on Instagram. Several of the questions revolved around parenthood. One of the questions specifically asked: “How did you and Amelia decide on Madi’s name?”

Olly responded with a grin and said: “A friend of mine, James Madison, played for Spurs and I always liked his name, liked the name Madison.

“I actually really liked the name for a boy, so I wrote it down on our little name list and said to Amelia (his wife), ‘I have this name, I think it would be really nice for a boy or a girl, preferably a boy.'”

Then problems arose because Amelia objected, saying it was not a good name for a boy at all. However, she liked it for a girl. Luckily for Olly, they had a little girl and he said: “When Madison was born, we thought, ‘She’s a Madi,’ so that’s what it is.”

Another fan of the Heart Skips a Beat singer asked him how he found parenthood and Olly couldn’t help but grin broadly, saying: “It’s really blown my mind.”

He added, “Most days I look at her and think, ‘God, we did this.’ She’s only 11 weeks old, but I love it.” He also said she has started smiling and recognizing him, and he’s enjoying every minute of it.

Balancing fatherhood and touring music has been difficult. Olly had to miss Father’s Day on June 16 due to his busy schedule. He posted on Instagram: “Dear Madi, one day you may be allowed to have an Instagram account and then you will see this, but today is a very special day. My first Father’s Day!”

“You are perfect in every way my little bundle of poopy nappies and I can’t believe you are already 9 weeks old. Sorry I’ve been on tour and am now at the Euros watching England’s first game but I’ll make it up to you when I get home x lots of love from your daddy x”.

Olly shares Madi with his wife Amelia Tank. The pair were married at a luxurious three-day event in Essex. They decided to celebrate in the UK because they wanted their grandparents to be there and they were too old to travel. Olly surprised his wife with a performance by their favourite artist – second only to Olly, of course – Craig David.
