Florida Gators QB DJ Lagway is compared to Packers’ Jordan Love

The Florida Gators couldn’t be more excited about freshman quarterback DJ Lagway. While he may not be a starting lineup player in 2024, his future looks extremely bright and he gives the program a true quarterback of the future.

Graham Mertz is the other quarterback on the roster who is projected to be a starter, but Lagway hasn’t shied away from giving Mertz a competitive boost.

Lagway, a five-star quarterback from Willis, Texas, has the potential to be a superstar in college, and Florida believes he has a bright future in the NFL as well.

Not only was Lagway very successful and made a name for himself on the field, he was also successful from a NIL perspective.

Lagway is currently the 17th college football NIL athlete according to On 3. His NIL value is estimated at $1.1 million.

As the NIL market continues to grow, Lagway has done an impressive job of capitalizing on it.

Looking ahead, Lagway has been compared to some current NFL stars. One of the most interesting comparisons was made by On3. They believe he is comparable to current up-and-coming Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

“DJ Lagway is a quarterback with strong arms and flexible muscles whose physicality is reminiscent of Jordan Love. Lagway is a slightly more established runner at the same level.”

His greatest strengths include an incredibly strong arm and consistent accuracy. He also stands tall in the pocket and is not afraid of defense. With his speed and athleticism, he is more than capable of extending plays and can also put pressure on defense on the ground.

There are some concerns with his passing technique right now. He tends to rely too heavily on his arm rather than using his entire body to produce the power of his throws.

Fortunately, all of the issues affecting Lagway are treatable. There is no aspect of his game that cannot be developed further.

It will be exciting to watch Lagway develop in Florida over the next few years. He has superstar potential and the Gators are ready to help him reach his maximum potential.

In the very near future, we could be talking about Lagway as a Heisman Trophy candidate and a potential high-level NFL draft pick.
