‘The love of my life’: Congressman Thomas Massie announces death of his wife • Kentucky Lantern

U.S. Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky announced the death of his wife Rhonda.

On a Friday morning Social media post about XThe congressman thanked everyone for “the prayers for our family during this difficult time.”

“Yesterday my high school sweetheart, the love of my life for over 35 years, the loving mother of our 4 children, the smartest and kindest woman I have ever known, my beautiful and wise forever queen, Rhonda, passed away to heaven,” Massie wrote.

The congressman, a Republican representing Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, met his wife at Lewis County High Schooll in northeastern Kentucky in the 1980s. They both later graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and founded a company, SensAble Technologies. They later sold the company and moved back to Lewis County.

The Massies have four children. There is no information about the cause of death.

Several Kentucky Republicans sent their condolences on Friday morning. Their congressional colleague Andy Barr said on X that he was “deeply saddened” to hear of Rhonda Massie’s death.

“Rhonda’s warmth, kindness and devotion to her family and community touched everyone who was privileged to know her,” Barr said. “My thoughts and prayers are with Thomas, their four children and the entire Massie family during this heartbreaking time.”

State Auditor Allison Ball, who was the first public official in Kentucky to give birth while serving as treasurer, shared on X that she had asked Rhonda Massie several times for parenting advice.

“I am saddened to hear of the passing of Rhonda Massie,” Ball said. “Rhonda was always so wonderful to me. She encouraged me during my first pregnancy and baked the best homemade pies. Asa and I are praying for Congressman Massie and the Massie family.”
